Project goals

What the project had to achieve

  • Help customers quickly check which metals the scrapyard buys
  • Give tradespeople and public customers a clear route to ask for current prices
  • Explain how bringing in scrap, weighing and payment works
  • Make the Rugby yard easy to find and prepare visitors before arrival
Challenges

What made it tricky

  • Customers may know the item they have but not its metal category
  • Price enquiries needed a direct contact route rather than an unverified live price list
  • Trade services, visitor requirements and location details needed to remain easy to scan on phones
Solution

How I approached it

  • A yellow-and-navy visual direction using the client's VMR branding and a photograph of the Rugby facility
  • Separate sections for six service groups and seven accepted metal categories, including copper, cable, brass, aluminium, lead, stainless steel and vehicle batteries
  • Prominent phone and WhatsApp links, including a photo-led request for today's prices
  • A three-step explanation of bringing in scrap, weighing it and receiving bank payment
  • Yard photography, published Google customer feedback and practical FAQs
  • Opening hours, map information, directions and reminders about photo ID, vehicle arrival and bank details

VMR (Rugby) Metal Recycling website FAQs

What does the VMR Rugby website include?
Seven accepted metal categories, six service groups, a yard gallery, published Google reviews, visitor FAQs, opening hours and location information, with phone, WhatsApp and directions links.
Does the website display live scrap metal prices?
No. It directs customers to WhatsApp to ask for current rates and send a photo of their scrap, rather than displaying an unverified live price feed.
Where is VMR Rugby based?
The client's yard is at Unit 5a, Midland Trading Estate, Consul Road, Rugby CV21 1PB. This is the client's location, not a Wright Designs Studio office.
Who designed the VMR Rugby website?
I designed and built the VMR Rugby website at Wright Designs Studio, my one-person website design studio based in Nuneaton and working UK wide.
